2. Position Responsibilities include:
- A) Managing client family satisfaction by:
- a) Demonstrating an understanding and knowledge of using the General Price List to educate and establish credibility with client families
- b) Recommend, arrange and conduct memorialization services and tributes according to the Geib Standard of Excellence.
- c) Supervise and lead all who will in participating in the deployment of any service plan
- d) Ensure that each member of the Geib Care Team is fully briefed on their duties and ensure that their appearance, demeanor and conduct are all complimentary to the Geib Standard of Excellence
- B) Manage growth in community care:
- a) Demonstrate local knowledge of and good communication with community members, leaders, clergy, hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, cemeteries, florists, monument companies and other stakeholders,
- b) Be visible and active in the community as a positive ambassador of the Geib Family & Staff
- c) Treat everyone in the community with respect and authenticity
- d) Monitor and improve client family survey results
- C) Financial Accountability
- a) Demonstrate responsibility to client families in fully explaining how funeral homes charge for services, products, and how the privilege of third-party “cash advance accounts” are provided.
- b) Provide expertise in assisting client families in making choices related to payment of a funeral account so as not to cause hardship for the client family.
- c) Complete a subtotal of charges with a client family to enable the family to have a complete understanding of the value they receive for the investment made.
- d) Demonstrate responsibility for expense control, and prudent stewardship of natural resources.
- D) Internal Roles & Duties
- a) Insure that all required paperwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner
- b) Monitor security of premises, personal information, client financial documents, funeral products and equipment
- c) Implement Federal Trade Commission, Occupational Health and Safety Administration, Ohio Board of Embalmer and Funeral Director and Geib regulations properly
- d) Participate in the transfer of deceased remains from residences, nursing homes, hospitals, morgues to our care center
- e) Insure facility and equipment is maintained to highest standard according to OSHA / ADA and EPA as well as to Geib standards
- E) Position Requirements
a) Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education per Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Director regulation.
b) Excellent verbal and written communication skills
1) You will be expected to effectively speak before comsumers, client families, clergy, and other employees of the company in the execution of funeral related services
c) Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license
d) Ability to read and interpret documents
e) Ability to write correspondence, and most importantly, eloquent obituaries
f) Ability to anticipate needs of others and react accordingly
g) Ability to stand for extended periods of time
h) Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; ability to (pinch or pick) maneuver small objects with control and dexterity
i) Ability to reach and extend out and retrieve objects outside immediate range
j) Ability to exert up to eighty pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly in order to move or carry objects
k) Ability to perceive depth and field of vision
l) Ability to perform other duties as assigned
Please note that the role of the licensed funeral director in Ohio requires that we extend the position to an employee as Salaried Exempt. A funeral director is paid a salary for performance of his/her job and is not eligible for overtime; although Geib Funeral compensates for any overtime hours worked over 42 in any weekly period, as well as paying a per diem for evening transfers and embalming activities.
